One thing I feel very strongly about is women supporting one another. Celebrating one another and lifting each other up. Not tearing each other down. It’s something that is very sensitive to me, as I just don’t understand why at times, women can be negatively in competition or threatened by other women. We are all strong, female leads in our own right and we should feel the need to embrace this, and champion others too.
Cara Alwill Leyba is an author, entrepreneur and life coach speaker who does exactly this. She encourages women to live their best lives, and most importantly make happiness their priority. She encourages us to help each other whilst cheering each other on, and I couldn’t agree more with this. In 2007 she created ‘The Champagne Diet’, a blog about celebrating our lives, bodies and health every day.
She has written 8 best-selling books in her career including one of my favourites ‘Girl Code’, a book about how we as women can become better; how we can connect with ourselves and eliminate negativity. A road map for female entrepreneurs and professional women who want to build their confidence to do things they desire. Something that really resonates with me as a positive guide to really making the most of what you have, focusing on your strengths and the power that you have, to do whatever you want. To achieve your goals, and to reach your dreams.
“Teach yourself to dream without limits and you will achieve without limits”
Cara Awill Leyba
Cara started out her career working in MTV, a place I once worked, actually working in a similar position to the one I was in! And like myself, she wanted to be more creative, she wanted to write, and so started to document her life. She is hugely successful now in her own right, and I find her really inspirational because of how positive her message is. She continuously enforces believing in yourself and building the career you want, without any limits. Her positive affirmations have really captivated me, and I admire her overall style. Chic, with edge; she is living her best life and reminding us all that we can too. We can create the life we want.
Cara’s podcast ‘Style Your Mind’ offers a weekly dose of inspirational talks, conversations with like minded females, topics of inspiration and uplifting advice on how to build your dream life. This podcast really opened up a new way of thinking for me, and has inspired me to take control of my destiny. And one of my favourite quotes from Cara sums up her message greatly:
“True “fearlessness” does not really exist. When I refer to being fearless, I’m talking about recognizing that you have fears, but deciding to move forward anyway. That’s a biggie. A fearless and fabulous woman is someone who recognizes her desires, has the confidence to chase her dreams, and believes that everything is possible. She does not believe in the word “failure.” She redefines it. To the fearless and fabulous woman, a “failure” is just a signal that she needs to change her course and try a new way of doing something. She thinks positively, takes consistent action toward her goals, and never gives up.”
